The Cylinder: The cabinet is made of heavy-gauge aluminum. This shape is incredibly rigid and naturally resistant to internal standing waves.

The Drivers: The MkI version famously used the same driver complement as the LS3/5A: the KEF B110 (bass/mid) and the KEF T27 (tweeter).

The External Crossover: Unlike most speakers, the crossover is housed in the circular black plinth at the base, keeping it away from the magnetic interference and vibrations of the internal cabinet.

Acoustic Damping: The interior is heavily lined with acoustic foam and bitumen-impregnated sheeting to ensure a neutral, uncolored sound.

Replacement Drivers: You can purchase the Falcon B110 and Falcon T27. These are modern, high-tolerance versions of the original KEF units, designed to match the original factory specifications perfectly.

Capacitor Upgrade Kits: At Falcon we sell a specific JR149 MkI Replacement Capacitor Set. Over decades, the original electrolytic capacitors in the crossover drift in value, which dulls the sound. This kit allows you to refresh the electronics while maintaining the "British" sound signature.

Foam Grilles: The fluted foam that wraps around the cylinder often degrades into dust over 40 years. We typically stock or can source the correct acoustically transparent foam wraps, if you're looking for these please get in touch.

Crossover Components: While we don't usually sell the entire round PCB as a pre-assembled unit, we do provide all the individual inductors and resistors needed for a full rebuild.
