Restoring a CELESTION DITTON 66
The Celestion Ditton 66 Studio Monitor stands as a flagship of 1970s British high-fidelity engineering. Renowned for its effortless authority and warm, detailed soundstage, this iconic floorstander features a four-driver layout. High frequencies are handled by the prized HF2000 dome tweeter, paired with an MD500 dome midrange for rich vocal clarity. Its defining feature is low-end performance: a 12-inch active woofer coupled with a 12-inch Auxiliary Bass Radiator (ABR) passive cone, delivering deep, resonant bass down to 18Hz without dynamic compression. An audiophile classic built to last.
This model has two versions: an early type with a tag board crossover and a later version with a green PCB both of which we sell a capacitor set for. You'll need to remove the woofer to inspect the crossover and identify your specific version.
The Missing Components
When servicing vintage Celestion drivers, it is important to note that original factory technical specifications for many of these components were never published.
As a high-volume manufacturer during this era, Celestion’s production model was optimized for large-scale original equipment supply cycles. Consequently, the company did not prioritize the release of public technical data sheets or third-party component-level repair support for its legacy driver range.
We do not offer a replacement for the other drive units, for this you'll need to go to the secondhand market.
