The Falcon Acoustics & RAM Connection
RAM Electronics Ltd (Reference Audio Monitor) was founded in 1974 in Norwich by Vince Jennings and Matthew Therrien. During the 1970s and early 1980s, RAM earned a strong reputation among British audiophiles for its high build quality, musicality, and accurate imaging.
Falcon Acoustics was central to RAM's original success:
Engineering Partnership: Falcon founder Malcolm Jones worked closely with RAM on loudspeaker design and crossover topologies.
Component Supply: Falcon supplied all of the crossover networks and several drive units used in RAM’s historic lineup, and was actively involved in developing the original RAM BBC LS3/5a monitors.
Acquisition: In 2011, Falcon Acoustics officially acquired the RAM brand to preserve its archive and design lineage.
The Homage: RAM Studio 10
To pay tribute to this heritage, Falcon Acoustics revived the brand with the RAM Studio Series, designed in collaboration with speaker designer Graeme Bridges (formerly of ProAc). The RAM Studio 10 serves as the compact, 2-way standmount model of the line, engineered to modernize the classic "British monitor" sound signature while honoring traditional construction principles.
