Restoring KEF Caprice 1

KEF Caprice 1
The KEF Caprice 1 (officially the Caprice SP1043) is a vintage two-way bookshelf speaker manufactured by KEF in the UK between 1973 and 1977. It was designed as a high-fidelity, compact solution for small to medium-sized rooms, utilizing drivers and cabinet dimensions similar to the KEF Coda but with an upgraded crossover from the Cresta Mk II.
Historical Context of the KEF Caprice 1
The Caprice 1 is part of KEF’s legacy of utilizing Bextrene cone technology (specifically in the B110 woofer), which was revolutionary in the 1960s and 70s for providing smooth, low-coloration sound. The B110 and T27 driver combination used in the Caprice 1 is highly regarded by audiophiles as it was also the foundation for the legendary BBC LS3/5A studio monitor
