Inductors

Inductors are sold in value ranges.To order an inductor within a value range, please either select the inductor value Category range or Series type required from the column on the left - you will then be able to select the number, tolerance and specific value required. We carry most standard inductor values in stock, special values can be selected and are wound to order, delivery normally approx. 14 days. Tolerances can be selected when ordering.

All Falcon ferrite/SID core inductors are hand-wound with heat treated self-bonding wire bonded throughout the entire inductor. There is therefore no possibility of mechanical, microphonic or electrical resonances from any source.

High permeability highest saturation ferrite or iron dust cores are always used, handling up to 2x power for the same distortion as small Ø low saturation level  European cores.

Inductors are normally supplied pre-tinned.  Aircore bobbin colours may vary. Tapped inductors are special order only, please email. Inductor prices are mostly determined by copper commodity prices.

Inductors in crossovers require careful positioning with the magnetic axis at right angles to each other to cancel out mutual inductance/coupling which produces crosstalk and unwanted noise. For this reason Falcon has never produced round coil cores and bobbins for either ferrite and air core types as it is difficult to accurately determine the magnetic axes of a round inductor form.
